Zuzu's Handmade Mexican Food

There aren't many restaurants in town that I went to as a child, and still love today. Zuzu's is one such rarity. The one I went to in Plano has long since closed, but there are still two locations for us to enjoy. One is in Addison, and it's pretty decent; the other is in Lakewood and it is delcioso!

If you're looking for handmade, authentic Mexican food, this is a good spot to check out. It is comparable in price & time to places like Chipotle and Qdoba, and offers a wider variety of flavorful dishes, including tamales, flautas, burritos, fajitas, gorditas and more. I get the Veggie Combo platter thing. It comes with vegetable quesadillas, a potato-filled flauta, a black bean gordita, and your choice of side (I get the potatoes). I also request some of their enchilada sauce for various dipping purposes, because I did so as a kid and it is still delicious.

Some plusses: Everything is lard-free! They use fresh ingredients! The tortillas are made in-house! Authentic sides, like corn salad and roasted potatoes! Fresh homemade salsa bar! With all-you-can-eat cilantro (have I mentioned how much I love cilantro?)! Tasty limeade, margaritas and beer!

So if you want a break from Chipotle (even the best of us do every now and then), go to Zuzu's—the one in Lakewood, preferably—for some tasty Mexican cuisine.
